Re: Fresch - Discourse Markers in Early Koine Greek: Cognitive Functional Analysis and LXX Translation Technique
Have finished reading this book now. It truly is a great book, very highly informative about the respective Discourse Markers (DM) as used in the Papyri and LXX. Lots of new terminology to get to grips with if you're not used to this sort of book, but nothing overwhelming in my opinion. Though Fresc...

I ordered my copy on the 4th July from Amazon (UK), with it arriving the day after. SBL was doing a 30% off discount, however shipping to the UK made it redundant, and via Amazon was cheaper

Hi David - at the beginning of Thayer's Lexicon is a list of authors which are used in the Lexicon; at the start is a line stating "free use has been made of the lists in the Lexicons of Liddell and Scott..." see here . If we then look at the LSJ lexicon and what they say they've used for ...

More than likely λόγῳ is the word underlying "members register", with it's usage for public or private accounts being in view. See the LSJ entry for λόγος, I. 1 and 1b: http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/tex ... 3Dlo%2Fgos

Did you present a paper at all, Dr. Carlson? Any highlights we should be looking out for appearing in the book?

This looks very interesting and right up my sort of street. The chapter, But for Me, the Scriptures are Jesus Christ (Ι̅Ϲ̅ Χ̅Ϲ̅; Ign. Phld. 8:2). Creedal Text-Coding and the Early Scribal System of Nomina Sacra, I'm very eager to read.

The ; as far as I'm aware, always indicates a question mark.

Re: Septuagint translation of Daniel 11:35
The Logos LXX has a different Septuagint text for Dan 11:35 to the one you've posted there, Jonathan (which coincides with Swete's LXX edition): καὶ ἐκ τῶν συνιέντων διανοηθήσονται εἰς τὸ καθαρίσαι ἑαυτοὺς καὶ εἰς τὸ ἐκλεγῆναι καὶ εἰς τὸ καθαρισθῆναι ἕως καιροῦ συντελείας, ἔτι γὰρ καιρὸς εἰς ὥρας. Re: Sinaiticus and John 11:1
I've had a look at the images up on www.codexsinaiticus.org, and it just looks like a very slight mark to the left of the second α.
