Re: Typing Tutor for Ancient Greek

If I might make a humble suggestion. You really don't need a typing tutor for teaching how to type with a polytonic keyboard. That fact that you know how to use a keyboard makes you eminently qualified. Just print off the keyboard layout for whatever one of the myriad of polytonic Greek keyboard lay...

Re: Help finding Ernest Burton's citation in Commentary on Galatians - (see Th. εἰ, III 8 c β...)

The abbreviations table at the beginning gives the following work for the abbreviation Th.: Thayer, Joseph Henry, A Greek English Lexicon of the New Testament , New York, 1886. Rev. edition 1889. The text of that section is as follows (unfortunately, all written with transliterations): 8. ei mē, a. ...

Re: Theophylact of Ohrid: Heb. 6:20 πρόδρομος ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν

What exactly is at stake? It seems like the point of debate is whether 1) the passage is emphasizing Jesus' entrance εἰς τὸ ἐσώτερον τοῦ καταπετάσματος as a priestly act where he brings sacrifice "on our behalf" in the holy place, versus 2) emphasizing that Jesus is a forerunner ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν...

Re: Infinitives in Luke 3:21-22

This construction is normally followed by complementary (subjective) infinitives, or you could look at it as a form of indirect statement. Either way the infinitives would be dependent on ἐγένετο. This is by...

Re: 1 Corinthians 13:13 νυνὶ δὲ μένει

Could you say more about "but if they convey something more like the Christian faith and the Christian hope? This might well be something I am missing, but I don't quite manage to finish the thought here. My thinking here is driven primarily by what I see is the flow of thought of the section....

The Vatincanus Bible: Gospels

Check out Ben Kantor's recently released pseudo-facsimile of the gospels from Codex Vaticanus https://www.koinegreek.com/vaticanusbible . I received my copy a couple days ago and am very pleased with it. It is by far the nicest experience reading uncial manuscript text I have yet had. The text is a ...

Re: lexicons and word meanings for a given period

As you know, Lexicon's are not meant for the study of one particular author or time period, unless they were assembled specifically for that purpose. There are two really helpful works made for Josephus, though they are not very accessible at all (if you are by a research library, they might have a ...
