Re: Why not start with modern Greek?
There is, for example, already a Latin Rosetta Stone, and if you live near a big city you will have no problem finding people willing to speak Latin with you, but list member Refe T. could not find one guy in the entire state of Kansas who would speak Koine with him. A sub-implication behind Jonath...

Re: NT Greek Resource Library - Additions?
Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I'm totally sold on BDAG and Runge. I just need to decide if Kittel is worth it. I'd go with BDAG and Little Kittel first. There are libraries, after all, and you should spend some time with the Big Kittel in a library actually using it before you decide it's some...

Why not start with modern Greek?
Modern Greek has much more and probably much better resources for those who want to learn a language with a living languages approach. If some people start with Homer or Attic Greek then move forward in time to Koine, is there anything to be said for starting with modern Greek, then moving back in t...

Re: Handy GNT for travelling
Actually, Bob Jones U. offers two different sizes of pocket Greek NT's. I made a video for Wayne where I show the fonts of both. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TW38857G9mg&feature=youtu.be I'd recommend both. Pocket Greek NT's are one of the resources that lead to flluency, although I realize t...

Re: Handy GNT for travelling
I have a copy on order, but it has not yet arrived. Randy was gracious enough to send me a scanned copy of some pages - the font is a little different for λ, but the text seems readable, and the size is great.

Re: Public domain / freely available lexicons?
In May last year, Jonathan wrote, What public domain / freely available lexicons are good enough to be worth using, especially in software systems that can't use resources that are not freely available? LSJ, obviously. And that's already available in XML. I'm interested to know whether the XML file...

For perspective - do the classics people wish they had a Danker to work on LSJ?

Re: Smyth "A Greek Grammar"
I was partly amused and partly saddened to learn that Rod Decker's discovery of Smyth's grammar was practically an accident, although I think that he would have discovered Smyth sooner or later somehow. In addition, I think that what's been said about BDF and the fact that (a) it isn't really up to...

Re: Smyth "A Greek Grammar"
Smyth "A Greek Grammar" is repeatedly recommended in B-Greek. " "Cross out the Title on it and write KOINE GREEK GRAMMAR " If you're going to do that, get a copy of this book: Greek Grammar of the New Testament and Other Early Christian Literature http://www.amazon.com/Gree...

Re: B-Greek Forum: Also available as a mailing list
I just received an email from someone looking for digests. When I searched for the term, I realized I did not use the word digest anywhere in the original post, so I'm adding this post to the thread so the search term shows up in the future.
