/kw/ to /t/ in an English learner

It is perhaps not so relevant to the NT period, but only of historical interest in Grrek, but I came across an English learner whose mastery of the sound system was wanting on /kw/. He seemed to have consistently pronounced a /t/ when a /kw/ was expected. There was really very little strain on the listener for things spoken in context, and the error was not noticed by all competition judges.
