Suggestion - Mark as read

Post by David Lim »

Dear Jonathan,

When I click on "unread posts" there are many that I may not be interested in. Is there any way to mark them as read without having to click on them one by one? That is one good about the mailing-list which I only now realise. ;)

Thanks!

Hi David,

It's a good suggestion - in theory, phpBB already has a way to mark topics as read, but not individual posts. I haven't yet figured out how to do it, though.

If there's something simple I can configure, I'm open to it. I don't want to do custom programming when I can avoid it.

Yes marking whole topics as read is probably good enough, if it is easy for you to set up. :)

When logged in, I can see 'Subscribe forum', 'Subscribe thread' and 'Bookmark thread' links at the bottom of each page. I'm testing what they do at the moment.

I suspect the best solution would be a page that constructed the RSS URL for just a selected group of forums, but omitted any threads that have been unsubscribed in the normal manner. . E.g...

/rss.php?mode=threads&limit=1,2,4,6,12

For reference, a few JS solutions have been made for GreaseMonkey. But I don't think that's ideal.
