ἐπανακάμψυχε

Post by JBarach-Sr »

I am having trouble identifying ἐπανακάμψυχε which appears to be an Aorist form of ἐπανακάμπτω.
It is found in Hermas Similitudes 1:2.
ταῦτα οὖν ὁ ἑτοιμάζων εἰς ταύτην τὴν πόλιν οὐ δύναται ἐπανακάμψυχε εἰς τὴν ἰδίαν πόλιν.
The context seems to indicate it is an infinitive, but the ending is new to me.
Can someone help me parse this verb?
Thanks,
John Barach, Sr.

Where are you getting your text? I have ταῦτα οὖν ὁ ἑτοιμάζων εἰς ταύτην τὴν πόλιν οὐ δύναται ἐπανακάμψαι εἰς τὴν ἰδίαν πόλιν, which is the aorist infinitive you're looking for.

Stephen Carlson,
The text comes from the following site:
http://www.ccel.org/l/lake/fathers/shepherd_d.htm

Your copy shows the obvious infinitive ending which I had supposed it should be.
Thanks for the help.

OK, thanks. There is a δίψυχε on the same line. I wonder if that has something to do with the typo. There are other typos in that text, for example, on the next line ταλαιπωρε ἄθρωπε is missing an accent in the first word and a nu in the second.
