Denny Diehl here with a question on Acts 13:24.
The text has PRO twice:
PROKHRUXANTOS IWANNOU PRO PROSWPOU
THS EISODOU AUTOU BAPTISMA METANOIAS
PANTI TWi LAWi ISRAHL
Does the use of PROKHRUXANTOS and PRO suggest
a difference of meaning, or a repetitive meaning which
might emphasize the comparative? Does the
PROKHRUXANTOS suggest that John was the "first
ever" to preach a baptism of repentance? Or is it a
comparative between John preaching before Jesus
came?
Thank you!
Denny
