A spark from the Sidonian Sea?

In Nonnos Paraphrasis, Chapter 19, lines 9-11, Nonnos speaks of the mantle
the soldiers threw over Jesus, (John 19:2) and uses the phrase:

kai min anechlaino^san epi chroi pepla balontes
Sidonie^s stilbonta sopho^ spinther^ri thalasse^s,
sumbola koiranie^s kai en algesin...

does the phrase "a spark from the Sidonian sea" or does any of this bring any
associations to mind? What would it mean in this context?
