The Greek text of John 5:2 reads:
ESTIN DE EN TOIS IEROSOLUMOIS ... KOLUMBHQRA hH EPILEGOMENH hEBRAISTI BHQZAQA.
Translated:
Now there is in Jerusalem a pool, called in Hebrew Bethzatha.
This pool was destroyed in A.D. 70, along with the rest of Jerusalem. Does the use of the present tense ESTIN imply that this text was written prior to the destruction of Jerusalem, which means the Gospel of John may have been written before A.D. 70?
