Jonathan Robie pointed out the abbreviations in the front pages of LSJ are
no help for those who use that resource on-line. Here is a place that may
be helpful, on the Interactive Ancient Mediterranean site:

http://iam.classics.unc.edu/main/ansource.asp#wildabbrev

You can enter an abbreviation and discover whether it's in their database.
If it's not, I understand they're willing to fill in gaps.

I've sung the praises of this site before, for the maps and images it makes
available as well as for it the quality of the information it has. There
is much more to do, though, than there are funds available to support the
needed work.
