Trying to figure out where the plain is in the following:
PROS QALATTHS MEN, KATA DE MESON PASHS PEDION HN,
HO DH PANTWN PEDIWN KALLISTON ARETHI TE
hIKANON GENESQAI LEGETAI
Is the plain in the middle of the island (mentioned earlier), i.e. in
the center on both axies or is it extended along the middle of all the
island. KATA DE MESON PASHS is the issue. I am leaning toward the
notion of extension, something like "down (or along) the middle of all
the island".
And one more off topic question before I get back to NT Greek, what is
the HO doing in the second line? Don't read much Plato and the HO seems
sort of hung out in deep space here.
