Question on NIV of 1 Tim. 6:12

I see that the RSV has "to which you were called when you made the good
confession " (NRSV does not have "when"). This is no answer to the
original question but perhaps the NIV rendering is a case of influence
by an earlier translation.
It seems to me that the NRSV rendering "to which you were called
and for which you made the good confession " with its interpretive "for
which" seems to me to be off the mark. Is the "good confession"
confession for "AIWNIOU ZWHS?" But how DO you render the force of KAI
when it links two clauses, each with its own finite verb, when the logic
of the connection isn't obvious? Or is it just to my obtuse mind that
it is not obvious?

Thanks,

JM
