Jay P. Green, Sr. in his "The Literal Translation of the Bible" translates
Acts 2:38 as:

"And Peter said to them, Repent and be baptized, each of you ON the name
of
Jesus Christ TO FORGIVENESS of sins..." (cap. emphasis mine).

Now would someone please tell me what that verse is saying?

Ken, in the language of the New Testament the same word, Greek "en" may be
translated "in" or "on" depending on the context. Whenever you see one or
the other you know the translator picked it because he felt it best fit the
English context. The Greek New Testament itself does not distinguish
between in and on.

Hope this helps,

George
