There are 22 verses in the KJV where BAPTISMOS/BAPTIZEIN is translated
as Baptism/Baptise. But in two of them (Matthew 20:22,23) the Baptism
clause is omitted in the best MSS: apparently it was inserted by scribes
to harmonise with Mark 10:38f.
In Jerome's Biblia Sacra Vulgata, with the above exception, BAPTIZW/BAPTISMA
etc is always transliterated into the appropriate Latin part-of-speech.
e.g. aut baptismum quo ego baptizor baptizari (Sec Marcum 10:38).
