i won't try to answer the 'worthy cause' part.
to think in any language requires intensive, prolonged interaction within
that language.
such does not take place when outside that language and discussing that
language within another language, like we're doing here in english at the
moment. even if we do it for years.
but it's possible to jump language systems and work within a new language.
[perhaps, when approaching a dead language, the question can be clarified
by comparison with successful experiences in "thinking in living languages"
with live controls.]
