David:
The word occurs 4 times in 4 Maccabees, and 6 times in the NT
Romans 12:10
 1Thess 4:9
 Heb 13:1
1Peter 1:22
 2Peter 1:7
 2Peter 1:7

and the name of the city --- which is spelt PHILADELPHEIA -- occurs at Rv.
3:7, as one of the Seven Cities.

Does it

I feel that if I were to present you with two Greek words separately:
FILOS and ADELPHOS
you would have no trouble in checking them in your dictionary, and at least
taking a shot at what they meant.

Here is the Louw-Nida definition:

25.34 filadelfi/a, : affection for one's fellow believer in Christ -
`love for one's fellow believer, affection for a fellow believer.
"there is no need to write you about affection for your fellow believers' 1
Th 4.9; `keep on loving one another as fellow believers' He 13.1.

I recommend you look at the article "Brotherhood" in the Anchor Bible
Dictionary

Maurice
