In 1990 I purchased the U.Penn Tagged LXX from Philip Barton Payne &
Co. I paid a $100 for it, a lot of money for a few floppy disks.

This data was absolutely riddled with errors. I mean there was an error
in almost every verse of the LXX. Did that make the information useless?
Not really. These files helped me learn to read the LXX and in 1990 they
were "the only deal in town."

This has a few parallels to Comfort's book on the Papyri. Yes it is
seriously flawed both in conception and in execution. But Comforts book
is for most of us "the only deal in town."

I did not call up and yell at Philip Barton Payne about the errors in
the U.Penn Tagged LXX. I used it and it paid for itself. It has
subsequently been replaced by more sophisticated tools but they were not
available in 1990.
