Dear Gary,
     I do not know if you are working from the Greek text in 1 Tim 3:2-3,
but the words that you cite as "reflexive" are not necessarily so in Greek.
The word that some Bibles translate as "hospitable" is in Greek literally
"loving a stranger." The word translated as "respectable" in the NIV is in
Liddell and Scott, a Greek dictionary, rendered as "orderly, well-behaved."
There is nothing grammatical to mark it as reflexive. So DIDAKTIKON need
not gain a "reflexive" tinge ("teachable) from the neighboring words in the
context.
