I know this has been mentioned before, but the meaning of ekklesia is
essentially "assembly" or "gathering," while the word "church" has a
different origin, coming from KURIAKOS meaning "belonging to the Lord."
Nevertheless, translating EKKLESIA with the word "church" is traditional.
