 The former is asking for a miraculous Sign KATA TI he will know for certain
 that it will happen. He and his wife had been childless all their married
 life. Now they are too old; but not as old as Abraham and Sarah!

 The latter is asking a question of fact. Mary may have been a young virgin,
 but she knew something about paternity, and could not understand the message.
 Mary already knew about her cousin Elizabeth, and her husband's being mute
 by visitation from God for his slowness to believe. Mary never disbelieved;
 only asked for clarification. IDOU hH DOULH KURIOU, she submitted (verse 38).

 Zacharias on the other hand simply disbelieved, and demanded a supernatural
 sign. He got one! - but not one he expected to get.

 So No, Jay: it is not the same question at all!

 ETEXQH hHMIN SHMERON SWTHR hOS ESTIN CRISTOS KURIOS!
