What's the impact (or not) of the Rule for this passage?
Blessings,
Tom >>
Dear Tom:
There are several qualifications missing from your description, including the
fact that the rule is not applicable to proper names or even, for the same
reasons, to terms carrying the semantic weight of proper names, such as
"Christ" and in some contexts "Lord," "God" and others.
Also, the rule has reference to KAI-joined nouns, which are not what we find
in Ephesians 4:11.
Furthermore, the rule does not hold true for plural nouns, and these we do
have in Ephesians 4:11; hence, the rule is not really useful in interpreting
Ephesians 4:11.
Best regards,
Greg Stafford
