Wayne,
I think if we limit our terminology and our discussion to things which are
covered in Levinsohn* then we should not befuddle absolutely everyone on
this list since all the smart people have already or will soon purchase
Levinsohn and read him diligently.
I don't think that we should go on and on talking about people like T.
Givon** or R. Longacre*** since even people who regularly dabble in
linguistics find some of the stuff in these authors "challenging."
I have tried to keep most of my stuff within the scope of Levinsohn's
treatment of the subject, even when mentioning T. Givon, the stuff being
discussed is also in Levinsohn.
Anyway, this is one way of keeping this discussion on topic since
Levinsohn's book is now being widely read and it is a text book for students
of NT Greek.
Any of you folks who are out of school and not having to please your
professors anymore, can just pawn your NT Greek texts (Mounce? Wallace?).
There are students who need these books for classes so there is a never
ending "market" for used copies. Then you will be able to purchase
Levinsohn.
Now I am really going to drop this topic for a while. There are others out
there who can pick it up if they see fit.
Clay
