YHWH in the LXX (END OF THREAD PER CARL)

Dear Doug:

I made a mistake in continuing this thread on B-Greek, and I sent my email to
the List only because Doug had sent his there, too, or so I had thought.
Apparently his original message did not go through, and had I known that I
would not have sent mine there, either, per Carl's expressed concern.

I suggest that if you or Doug wish to continue this discussion, that we leave
B-Greek out of it, as it is not, at this point, in line with the List's
objectives. However, in response to what you did write, I offer in closing:

In a message dated 10/07/2000 12:12:34 AM Pacific Daylight Time,
jan.groenveld at uq.net.au writes:

<< reg, what you have said is astounding ..... you do not know if Doug's
expertise
is any more than yours or your sources .... certainly not from a little
 communication like this. >>>

Sure I do. Why do you say I do not? What he wrote is highly revealing
concerning his position.

<<< Having sat at the feet of some wonderful scholars and having been able to
ask
them and propose any thought, my experience is that the more they know the
humbler they are .... something I think you could learn here mate. >>>

I appreciate your thoughts, but I believe my humility is not at issue, here,
but, rather, whether or not I thought Doug had anything important to offer.
As I demonstrated, he did not understand what I was saying, and asked things
that people who have studied these issues in detail would never ask, such as
his question concerning the forms of the divine name.

These are merely my observations, based on what he wrote. They have nothing
to do with "humility" or my lack thereof. Perhaps anyone who cannot accept
the things I have said based on the facts provided, should ask whether or not
this quality is lacking in themselves. So, if you wish to continue privately,
pleas cease the personal attacks and focus on the issues, only.

<<<We can learn from ALL sources!>>>>

We might learn error from some sources, and truth from others, or a
combination of both. All sources are not equal, and if I can see that an
author of a particular work has written erroneously on a subject then, unless
I am out to offer correction, I would likely not spend quality time reading
such a publication. Would you?

Greg
