I think you are misreading the consensus.  The true
consensus is that Thayer's is so out of date that
no one (if he even owns a copy, which I do not) has
the inclination to go through and compare Thayer's
definitions with BDAG's.  Even the websites brought
up by a Google search are unhelpful, because they
tend to be more concerned about his Unitarianism
(alleged) than his lexicography.  So, if you want
to personally embark on this project, I commend
you for it, but please do not interpret people's
reluctance to do a lot of painstaking research for
you as an endorsement of Thayer's.
