Luke 2:7 - no TOPOS in the inn

I'm with Carl and Iver. KATALUMA is more probably an upstairs guest room
in the home of a Bethlehem-based relative of Joseph and with the terms of
the mandated census bringing extended family back from all over, this
guest room was likely already taken, leaving Mary no private
accomodations. When the birth occurred, the infant would therefore have
been placed in the hay-lined feeding trough adjacent to the main living
room and the lower, indoor animal pen - as a temporary crib. Pageants or
no pageants - there are no stables in Luke 2. I just don't see a cold,
lonely, abandoned couple struggling in some far off barn.
