Dear friends,
Any exhaustive dictionary will include archaic definitions of the
Shakespearean and KJV era. I recall Jack Lewis of Harding Graduate School of
Religion telling of his research on the word "publican" and finding out it
had more to do with keeping a bar than collecting taxes.
Nelson publishes this book: "The King James Bible Word Book." It is "A
contemporary dictionary of curious and archaic words found in the King James
Version of the Bible."
Ronald F. Bridges is editor.
I use my copy occasionally when lecturing in Greek Class on versions.
I enjoy the list immensely... now back to lurking.
Sincerely,
Phil Sanders
