I looked at Wallace's treatment of this and I guess I would be inclined to 
agree with your comments. It would really be impossible to get into the mind 
of a writer in order to determine just what he was thinking. For example, 
Wallace seems to offer "some" evidence of a we = me, but the problem as I 
see it is that the polar opposite could just as likely be correct.

In every instance Wallace gives, I can see the NT writer referring to 
himself and his apostolic team.

However, I would also add this: I have never seen an appropriate use even in 
English.
