Wayne already explained very nicely about scalar values of transitivity. 
Genitive objects to verbs are less transitive than accusative objects of
verbs.

Granted, that does not directly apply to the relationship between two
nouns, 
but it does start to put the genitive case in the correct part of the
playing field.
