Not so. Carlton's point was that there are technical grammatical searches
that cannot be done with other software. E.g., Logos cannot search for, say,
a Granville-Sharp construction. Accordance can. Logos is extremely limited
in value of grammatical study compared with Accordance, BibleWorks, and
Gramcord for Windows.
The newer versions of BibleWorks are much improved, though they still have
the complication, I believe, of using the Friberg database which uses
functional tags rather than formal ones. That can enable a few desirable
things (e.g., "substantives"), but introduces other problems.
The Windows version of Gramcord can do powerful grammatical searches also.
I'm really curious as to what has happened to the program known as Lightning
that was discussed at ETS/SBL last year--it was supposed to be the up and
coming "Accordance Killer" for Windows, but I've heard nothing since.
Perhaps there will be more info this year?
To correct another misconception, BibleWorks now also has a graphic search
construction interface--an Accordance-copied feature. I've not used it, but
I've seen it demoed. It looks somewhat less intuitive, but that may only be
because I'm so used to Accordance's implementation.
