in 3:6-7 the author had said DI' hA ERCETAI hH ORGH TOU QEOU [EPI TOUS
hUIOUS THS APEIQEIAS]. EN hOIS KAI hUMEIS PERIEPATHSATE POTE, hOTE EZHTE EN
TOUTOIS.
KAI hUMEIS in 7 (with PERIEPATHSATE POTE) has already applied to the
Colossians the possibility that the types of behavior indicated may bring
the wrath of God: "YOU ALSO once walked among these (or "by these"). So now
in 8 the imperative APOQESQE TA PANTA, ORGHN, ... is given the parallel
subject" "you also" should put away all those types of behavior. In sum,
the KAI hUMEIS in vs. 8 completes the parallel in vs. 7 where what "even
the Colossians" used to be and do is indicated.
