Chet,

D. Aune (WBC 3vols.) is the over all top current work in English. Even if
you don't like the WBC format and don't get excited about Aune's
methodology and get annoyed by his frequent forays into what some would
call parallellomania, and find yourself very often at odds with his
readings. In other words, even if there are numerous things you don't like
about Aune's work, it is still the best overall resource.

I have found G. Beale somewhat of a disappointment. Spends most of his time
talking about the English text. His readings, some of which are truly
strange, seem to be strongly colored by his reaction against 1950's style
dispensationalism. I do find some help in him now and then but I don't go to
Beale first.

I am not thrilled about either Aune or Beale, but these are the top recent
works in English.

greetings,

Clay
