identifying sentences

Well, again there's a problem with defining a sentence; but Matt 19:13, for
instance, uses a semicolon (in the Greek edition and NASB) or period (in
NRSV). Personally, I think you can just about always replace a semicolon
with a period. DE marks a clause boundary to be sure in Matt 19:8. I really
don't see any reason that it couldn't start a sentence.
But I'm still not sure people have got my original point. Wasn't the
question whether THi DE PRWTHi TWN AZUMWN could go with what precedes it
rather than what follows? I'm not even all that concerned with discourse
features here. I just don't see any reason for DE to appear, linking a
temporal circumstance to some verbal idea in the previous verse. It seems
like the idea would have to be something like: "And from that time he began
looking for an opportunity to hand him over, and on the first day of
Unleavened Bread."
