Dative in Lk. 2:9

Greetings, every one,

Lk. 2:9 reads in part: KAI AGGELOS KURIOU EPESTH AUTOIS. . . Is it
possible that AUTOIS is a dative of place (Sm. 1531)? Perhaps, then, the
translation would be that the angel "stood among them." In what other ways
do you see this term identified?

Thanks,

Tracey Lane
