Hi Iver:

This issue had been on my mind for a few weeks when I checked my mail
and happened to open your post first. It was really a combination of my
own mood at the time and the fact that you were dealing with this issue
in your post that led to my own. Though related to some of the things
you said in your post, much of what I said was meant to be of a more
general nature, to stimulate further comment. Sorry if it seemed like I
was "unloading" on you specifically. That was not my intention.

My department at work went back on overtime early this week, so I am
already overloaded and will probably not be able to jump back into this
discussion until at least next weekend. I haven't even had a chance to
look at the many posts on this issue that have been generated in the
past few days. (Wow! Quite a bit of traffic on B-Greek of late!) In the
meantime, I hope that others on my side of the aisle will be prompted
to contribute, since I am no doubt outnumbered and outclassed in this
debate--outnumbered at least by *active* contributers, outclassed in
that I am a totally unaccomplished high school dropout facing
accomplished and distinguished linguists and grammarians. My hope is
that equally accomplished people who can lend some "gravitas" to the
view I espouse will join in the fray, keeping in mind that DEI
ANTILAMBANESQAI TWN ASQENOUNTWN. :-)
