Your description of Aspect below for the Aorist is correct.
The Aorist denotes "undefined" action. The terms "complete
action" or "seen as a whole" is an attempt to say the same
thing you are saying.... albeit not using a negative.

You could go so far as to say that the Imperfective Aspect
portrays the action "in progress" while the Perfective Aspect
portrays the action "not in progress."
