Greek Tutor (the program)

I used the Parsons tutor quite a bit while I was in my first year of Greek.
I found that it was especially helpful for drilling on forms, basically as
an aid to what I was learning in class, but that it was weak on the actual
instruction. I don't think it is comprehensive enough to stand on its own,
though it's a great starting place. I think students need a lot more vocab
than it offers, as well as a lot more detail to the rules and norms of the
language.

For help on your vocab, check out Quickmem Greek, a freeware program at
http://www.headthirst.com/greek.shtml. It follows Metzger's Lexical Aids (so
contains all words used in the NT 10 or more times) and will drill you on
the different sets of words. It has a few mistakes too, but seems to be
improving with time, and I've found it to be a great help.

Subject: [b-greek] Greek Tutor (the program)

Fellow B-Greekers,

With all the posts I have seen inquiring as to the
best textbooks to use for Biblical Greek, I have
become curious as to what the members of the list
would say about the program from which I am currently
endeavoring to learn my Greek: Greek Tutor by Parsons
Technology. I have no formal instruction yet (high
schools in Texas don't seem to offer Koine Greek) so
this is essentially my only resource for learning
Greek besides reading this list and trying to read
Greek New Testaments and looking up words I don't know
(i.e., every other word) in Strong's.

So basically what I'm asking, in my somewhat
longwinded manner, is if anyone has heard of this
program (Greek Tutor) and if so is it a good teacher
for a novice in New Testament Greek?

Daniel Walin
