value of accents?

Based on the one scholar (maybe 2, i.e., Vincent Setterholm, who concurred
with David Warren's humorous response) who did respond (David Warren), it
appears that the feeling of those who KNOW Greek is that it is valuable
for me and others to learn Carson's accent rules. Perhaps, then, Carson
needs to make this more apparent or forceful in his book. Or perhaps there
are others out there who might demur and agree somewhat with my feeling
that novice NT Greek readers/learners probably do not need to bother
themselves with the minutia of all the rules related to accents, but need
learn only the brief general rules.
