Don't read Ethiopic so I am curious about the idiom:

This is Greek, Clay. I think you realize that. Perhaps I'm not properly
understanding your question, but I'll respond to what I understand anyway.

R.H. Charles translates this as
_________________

And after some days my son Methuselah took a wife for his son Lamech, and she
became pregnant by him and bore a son.

I hesitate to disagree with such an authority as Charles; however, I would
read this as

After a time Methusaleh took for my son a wife. She bore a son and called
his name Lamech.

Perhaps he was reading from the Ethiopic and that may be your question.
Unfortunately, I don't have an Ethiopic version.
