Given how carefully Paul tries to balance the whole "should we marry or
shouldn't we marry" question in the whole chapter, I would suggest
toning down the sense of superiority of celibacy[1]. I'd suggest, "Not
being married is a good thing to do."
However, Iver pointed out that such a translation looses some focus on
sexuality. Good point! The use of PORNEIA in the next sentence may be
sufficient to bring sexuality into focus. However, perhaps, "Not
enjoying the marriage bed is a good thing to do" might be better. This
also brings in the euphemism of GUNAIKOS MH hAPTESQAI.
Also, I agree with the inclusio observation. In fact, I tend to think
it is chiastic with 3-4 balanced off of vs 5 and vs 2 with vs 6.
