There are two different verbs from two different roots:

GINOMAI is the later form of Attic GIGNOMAI from root GEN/GON/GN meaning
"generate." From the same root also: GENOS, GENNAW, etc.
GINWSKW is the later form of Attic GIGNWSKW from root GNW/GNO meaning
"recognize, know." From the same root also: GNWSIS, GNWRIZW, etc.
