Dear All,
Text:
AMHN LEGW hUMIN, hOS AN MH DEXHTAI THN BASILEIAN TOU QEOU hWS PAIDION, =
OU MH EISELQHi EIS AUTHN.
Should we take PAIDION here as a nominative or an accusative?
1. If we render it as a nominative, then it is the hOS who has to be as =
a little child (... whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a =
little child [receives the kingdom of God] ...).
2. If we construe it as an accusative, then the kingdom of God should be =
paralleled by PAIDION (... whoever does not receive the kingdom of God =
as [one receives] a little child ...).
3. Or is it possible to see PAIDION as a nominative even though it =
pertains to the kingdom of God, not to the hOS? In this case, "... =
whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as [one receives] a little =
child ..." (but "a little child" is nominative).=20
4. Can hWS function in making a parallel for accusatives?
Thank you very much for your help.
Emil Salim
