JACT stands for "Joint Association of Classical Teachers"; this is a
British group that has issued several important works for students of
Classical Greek through Cambridge University Press, including the major
introductory textbook _Reading Greek_ which has two volumes: (1) Text
(Greek in progressively more difficult narrative and dramatic selections,
beginning with material from Aristophanes and ending with passages from
book 6 of Homer's Odyssey; (2) Vocabulary, Grammar and Exercises. This is
an excellent textbook for Classical Attic Greek, although it needs to be
supplemented for anyone who's going to use it for private study without an
instructor. And I see that there's now an independent study guide available
for it. Here's the page at amazon.com describing it{

I note also that JACT has now published a NT Greek Reader; here's the
amazon.com blurb:

Book Description
This book provides the ideal introduction to the New Testament in Greek for
students with only the most basic knowledge of Greek. It presents a
selection of substantial extracts, with vocabulary, some grammatical help
and brief introductions setting the various authors in context. At the end
there is a checklist of about 350 of the commonest New Testament words, but
all other words are printed as they occur. It is particularly suitable as a
follow-on textbook for students who have learned Greek using Wenham's The
Elements of New Testament Greek. Also available... The Elements of New
Testament Greek by J.W. Wenham, 0-521-09842-4, Paperback, $16.95 D
