I assume the article about which you ask is TWN. The function of the article 
is to show the relationship of EN DIKAIOSUNHi hWN EPOINSAMEN hHMEIS to ERGWN. 
 Note that the article agrees with ERGWN in case gender and number. So the 
works are those that "we ourselves have done in righteousness." Some would 
say that the article functions like a relative pronoun. I prefer to say that 
it shows the grammatical relationships of the following elements.
