AKOUETE

Hi,
I am very new to this Greek language. I guess you'd call me a Really Little Greek. But I am very curious about languages. I enjoy studying them. So even though I am a RLG, I look things up frequently in relation to Biblical stuff.
Regarding my subject, AKOUETE. I am wondering if anyone can tell me whether it comes from the root AKOUW, or AKOLOUQEW. I have looked in my Lexicon, which uses Strong's Concordance. Though I have no SC myself, I have found that in SC it puts AKOUETE under AKOLOUQEW, yet everywhere it is translated it is translated as "hear"(maybe not everywhere everywhere, but in the three or so places I have found it) and not "to follow".
Can anybody help me with this??
In Christ,
Mary Whelan
