Yes, so a more accurate rendering of your interpretation might be: "the 
Jews have ((FINALLY been seeking) to stone you), are you going there again?"

FWIW, I don't have final conclusions about exactly how tense and aspect 
work in NT Greek, and I find your suggestions plausible. Alas, what I 
really need is two months off of work to look into this more deeply. And if 
I had two months off of work, there's a real danger that I'd go sailing on 
my beach cat instead ;->
