My guess would be that they reasoned as follows:
1) hIERATEUMA = abstract noun for concrete--priesthood=priests
2) BASILEION = adjective formed from a noun. Non-idiomatic to do this in
English. More idiomatic to use a noun in genitive instead of the adjective.
e.g.:
ORATIO DOMINICA = (literally in Latin) "Lordly (or lordish) prayer"
= Lord's Prayer (more idiomatically).
My best guess.
