John Shelby Spong wrote a book a few years ago called LIBERATING THE
GOSPELS, in which he popularized the work of Michael Goulder, who reads
the Gospel accounts as midrashic interpretations of regular readings of
the Torah prescribed for worship services in the synagogue. So Michael
Goulder might be a source for you to investigate to discover primary
source material, though I don't know to what extent, if any, the scholarly
community accepts Goulder's (hypo)thesis.
