In the third edition of NT Exegesis by Gordon Fee, p. 66-67, Fee discusses textual criticism
and variant readings. He mentions earlier that he is assuming that the reader has already read
previously from a list of sources he provides. One source is Bruce M. Metzger (ed.), "A
Textual Commentary on the Greek New Testament," 2 ed. (New York: United Bible Societies, 1994),
pp. 1* - 16*. First of all, does anyone out there in B-Greek hold a copy of this reference
with pages 1* - 16*? Could it be possible to send me a faxed copy or by e-mail for study
purposes? Secondly, I'm not understanding how one goes about identifying "text types" (e.g.
Egyptian, Western, Caesarean, Byzantine) by looking at the critical apparatus in NA27ed or
UBS4. Any direction you can give in that area would be greatly appreciated as well. Finally,
one last request: if you can elaborate on Fee's discussion on external evidence (p 66-67), I
could use the help.
