The western text (Bezae, D*) adds some confusion to this question with the
reading
D*, J.H. Ropes' text -- ACTS 19:29 KAI SUNEXUQH hOLH hH POLIS AISXUNHS
NA27 -- ACTS 19:29 KAI EPLHSQH hH POLIS THS SUGCUSEWS
The addition of AISXUNHS appears to arise from a confusion concerning the
sense of Latin (Bezae, d) "confusionum" which can be used to translate
AISXUNH. It appears that D* is covering all the semantic possibilities by
including both SUNEXUQH and AISXUNHS.
This text in Bezae reminds me of a bible study I attended in '92 on the
north coast of Oregon where one of the deacons of Warrenton Baptist read
from an English translation which expanded the semantic domains of some
words so that the different possible renderings were linked together with
conjunctions. A neat editorial trick. I don't know the name of this
paraphrase.
