I've seen some try to take OUPW hKEI hH hORA MOU as a question.
"My hour has not come, has it?" I'm made to understand that more than
one early Church Father tried this approach.
There is a Syrian/Chaldean counterpart to this expression that rather than
expressing
opposition, it expresses unity. The idea being that Jesus was expressing
agreement
with Mary, not opposition to her request.
Or, one may take this as Christ explaining that his mother was not the one
to
determine when Christ's ministry began. That was the Father's decision. As
in
2 Kings 3 (with Elisha), he opposes her request to BEGIN his ministry, but
does
oblige her request to provide for the wedding guests.
